About Us

Why choose BestView?

Beyond the basics of health testing and socialization, we focus on two things: temperament and digestive health.

Temperament — we select our breeding adults specifically for being genuinely nice to be around. Each kitten develops their own personality, but we stack the deck in your favor by starting with parents who are social, affectionate, and people-oriented. The apple doesn’t fall far from the leopard-print tree.

Digestive health — our first two pet Bengals had significant digestive issues, and while searching for answers, we learned this is not an uncommon problem in the breed. A balanced raw diet is the gold standard and often helps — but the reality is most owners can’t or don’t want to feed raw long-term. That’s why we’ve prioritized breeding cats whose systems handle everyday pet foods well, with the hope that digestive resilience is one more thing they pass on to their kittens.

What guarantees do you offer?

Every kitten is sold in good health following a full veterinary examination and comes backed by a health guarantee. Coverage includes genetic diseases (PRA-b and PK-Def) for life, fatal congenital defects including HCM for five years, and FIP for one year. See our Deposit & Sales Agreement for the full terms and conditions.

What health testing do you do on your breeding cats?

Our breeding cats are regularly screened for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) by a veterinary cardiologist, and we do not breed any cat found to have HCM. All breeding cats are also genetically tested for progressive retinal atrophy (PRA-b) and pyruvate kinase deficiency (PK-Def) — no BestView cats carry these diseases.

Are your kittens indoor-only?

Yes — all kittens are placed as primarily indoor pets. This is a condition of our Deposit & Sales Agreement. If you'd like to take your cat outside, it must be leashed or in a safely contained area — no free roaming.

Do you declaw?

We do not declaw and do not place kittens with families who intend to declaw. Per our Deposit & Sales Agreement, declawing is a breach of contract and voids all health guarantees.

What do you feed your cats, and what should I feed my kitten?

A balanced raw diet is genuinely the best nutrition you can give a cat, and for a long time we fed our cats and kittens exclusively raw. But we found that many families couldn't or didn't want to continue feeding raw once a kitten came home — and that kittens sometimes struggled to transition away from it. For that reason, we decided to start feeding our cats a variety of foods alongside their raw, and to start all kittens on what we call “kibble soup” — dry food with water added.

The biggest issue with dry-only feeding is that cats get the majority of their hydration from their food, not their water bowl. Unlike dogs, cats don't compensate by drinking more when they eat dry food — they simply stay chronically dehydrated. Over time, that puts significant strain on the kidneys, and kidney disease in middle-aged and senior cats is often a direct consequence. Adding water to the kibble solves this simply: same food, same routine, meaningfully better hydration at every meal.

It's simple, affordable, and in our experience, people actually stick with it — which counts for a lot.

For kittens we use Orijen Kitten kibble. We recommend continuing with it when your new kitten arrives home to ease the transition, then switching gradually if you'd like.

About the Breeds

What are Bengals like as pets?

Bengals are highly intelligent, active, and curious cats. They love to climb, explore, and often enjoy playing in water. They're affectionate and bond closely with their families — and while all Bengals are high-energy, each cat has their own personality. Some are very cuddly lap cats; others prefer to be near you while doing their own thing. They thrive with enrichment, interactive toys, and a companion animal.

What are Devon Rex like as pets?

Devon Rex are famously people-oriented — they've earned the nickname "pixie cats" for their elfin looks and playful personalities. They love to perch on shoulders, curl up on laps, and be involved in everything you do. Like Bengals, they're high-energy and need interactive play, but they tend to be exceptionally cuddly.

Are Bengals or Devon Rex hypoallergenic?

No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but both breeds are often tolerated better by allergy sufferers. Bengals have a fine, pelt-like coat that sheds less than most breeds. Devon Rex have very short, wavy coats with minimal shedding. If you have cat allergies, we recommend spending time with the breed before committing.

Do Bengals or Devon Rex get along with children and other pets?

Generally yes — both breeds tend to be social and adaptable. Bengals especially enjoy having a playmate, whether that's a child, another cat, or a dog. Proper introductions and supervised interaction are important, especially with young children.

The Process

There’s an available kitten on your website. How do I reserve it?

First, fill out our application. Once approved, you’ll sign our Deposit Agreement and place a 10% non-refundable deposit. This will reserve the kitten for you. Kittens go home between 13–16 weeks. The balance will be collected at pickup. We accept Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App.

There are no available kittens on your website. Do you have a waitlist?

We discontinued our waitlist as of April 1, 2026 — if you were on it, your position is still honored and you’ll be among the first contacted when kittens become available.

We now operate from an interest list. Here’s how it works: fill out our application to sign up. When a litter becomes available, we notify all interest list members at once. If you see a kitten you like, let us know and we’ll send you our deposit agreement, collect a 10% deposit, and the kitten will be officially reserved for you. Families who already have a BestView cat receive first priority. If a particular litter doesn’t have what you’re looking for, no problem; you stay on the list for future litters.

Is the deposit refundable?

The deposit is non-refundable if you change your mind. However, if we determine the kitten isn't the right match for your home, or if we decide to keep a kitten as a breeder, your deposit will be refunded in full — or you can apply it toward a future kitten.

Pricing & What’s Included

How much do your kittens cost?

Bengal kittens currently start at $1,800 (marbled), $2,000 (spotted), and $2,200 (rosetted). Devon Rex kittens start at $1,800. Pricing reflects temperament, pattern, color, glitter, type, and age at release. Prices will be increasing for kittens born after July 1, 2026. If you’re already on our waitlist, your price will be the same as current pricing — no surprises.

What’s included with my kitten?

Every kitten goes home spayed/neutered, with core FVRCP vaccinations, a microchip, full vet records, and a TICA breeder slip. TICA registration and pedigree paperwork is available upon request for an additional $60 fee.

Logistics

Do you ship kittens?

We prefer in-person pickup, but we can discuss options if you are not local to the Sierra Nevada foothills or Bay Area, California.

At what age do kittens go home?

Kittens go home between 13–16 weeks of age, after they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and have been fully socialized with people.

What if I can no longer keep my cat?

If at any time you can no longer care for your cat, please contact us before rehoming or surrendering. We will always be willing to take a BestView cat back — however, all sales are final and there are no refunds.
